San Francisco Bay Area Figurative Painting

This Abstractionist Figurative painting is oil on linen. The painting measures 29 1/2" X 39 1/4". It is signed JOE DERWOYED. It came from The San Francisco Bay Area and is in the style of Bay Area Figurative Art that reached its zenith between 1950-1965. The painting is signed in the lower right corner and the artist name is also written in pen on the top right margin of the linen. This piece is unframed and not on a strecher. It came to me folded in quarters as it appeared to have been stored for many years. There is paint loss along the seams of the folds-the worst of which is on the forehead, right cheek, neck and collar bone of the figure.
