Signed Victor Vasarely (1908-1997) Serigraph

This print measures 9 1/8" X 12 1/2" (16" X 18 3/4" framed). It is signed and numbered in pencil 51/300 below the graphics. The piece is framed in a high-end brushed silver metal frame with white matte and a floated mounting. Vasarely was a French Painter and printmaker of Hungarian birth. He is considered one of the leading figures of the Op Art movement in the 1960's. He studied in Budapest at the Academy of Painting under Alexander Bortnyk (1893-1977) and the Muhely Academy, also known as the Budapest Bauhaus (1929-30). In 1930 he moved to Paris where he worked as a graphic designer for the next 10 years. He began his lengthy development of Geometrical Abstraction in the mid 1940's and by the 1960's had achieved the individual style for which he is best known today.
