Wiveca Ragnarsdotte Rubinow Painting

"Loud Mouth" (Frog Face) is a great piece of Mid Century Abstract Expressionism captured by respected artist Wiveca Rubinow (1920-1994). Wiveca was born in Sweden and moved to Northern California after marring Sydney Rubenow. She studied in Paris under Henri Matisse and is one a a handful of artists who was able to make a living from her art. The painting is on stretched canvas and measures 30" X 39 3/4" and has a simple wood molding frame that was popular with the California School at the time.The would benefit from a cleaning and there is a 1/2" tear to the canvas over the top stretcher which need repair. Wiveca moved to Westport, Calif. in 1986 where she had an art studio. She painted and taught here until her death.
