Ceramic Slab Sculpture by Rigo Jackson
This tribal inspired sculpture was done by Mendocino Artist Rego Jackson (1929-2008). The piece measures 15" tall 7" wide and 8" deep. The piece was bisque fired and then cold painted with generous sgraffito. Mr. Jackson studied in New York City, San Francisco and Mendocino. He was primarily a jazz musician and while proficient on many instruments had a special affection for his beloved vibes. His Uncle was Jazz great Jelly Role Morton and the love of art and music runs in his family. His love of art was a personal passion and he did not show or sell his art.
