Takehiko Hironaga Woodblock Print
This print is titled "Hapo-Mado" and measures 13 1/2" X 16 1/2" framed. The actual subject measures 4" X 5 3/4". It is signed in pencil with the artists cipher and also has his red ink chop. Hironaga was entirely self taught and began wood block printing in 1970 using hand made paper. He was a protege of Kiyoshi Saito and primarily did prints of old historical Northern Japanese houses/Minka's and traditional buildings that were rapidly disappearing with the advent of industrialization. He was born in 1935, studied at Tenica High School which was attached to Nehon University and exhibited at CWAJ Shows.
