HAP SAKWA Turned Burlwood Vase

Offered is a walnut burlwood weed vase by Hap Sakwa. This early example is on the large side measuring 7 3/4" tall. It is signed on the base in black ink "Sakwa 9/78". This is a great piece of wood with lively veins and natural hollows throughout. Mr. Sakwa has moved on to photography so his wood pieces are hard to find and highly sought after. The last 2 of these vases to come to auction brought $1400 at Sallo/Rago Oct. 2006 for a 5 3/4" example and $1600 at LAMA Dec.3 2006 for a 5 3/4" example. Please note that there is a line around the neck that appear to be a break. You can only see it on very close inspection.
