Jonah Kumalae Koa Ukulele
This early example of a Hawaiian Ukulele was made by Jonah Kumalae of Honolulu for the H. Holt Co. of Portland, Oregon. It measures 21" long and retains its original paper label. The amount and quality of handwork and inlay on these early pieces is superb. There are some condition issues I will mention; The keys and strings are missing, there is a 4 1/2" hairline crack from the base of the top of the body that goes along the side of the string holder fret, there is a 4" hairline crack on the back of the body radiating up from the base at the top bridge going to the keys is missing. The uke still displays well.
