Seascape by Albert Barbelle

This well done seascape is by accomplished artist Albert W. Barbelle (1987-1957). Mr Barbelle was born in Massachusetts. He studied fine and commercial art in Paris, London and at the Art Student League of New York. He is best known as an illustrator (he was the illustrator for the very first Mickey Mouse book) and did the covers for many pieces of sheet music. He was active at the Staten Island Museum teaching classes and served as a president of the art section. His fine paintings were well received by the art community (he lived in Staten Island but kept a studio in Manhattan.

The painting is oil on canvas and measures 25" X 30" (31 1/4" X 36" in its original frame). It is in very good original condition with some slight yellowing to the varnish.
