Stone Sculpture by Rego Jackson

This nicely executed stone sculpture is by Mendocino artist Rego Jackson (1929-2008). It measures 13 1/2" tall and approximately 8" at its widest. The piece has been carved with 3 disticntly different faces (see photos). The piece is in good condition with scuffs and scratches to the black paint that was applied to the finished piece as well as a couple of chips to the stone. It is signed on the underside "Rego '91". Mr. Jackson studied in New York City, San Francisco and Mendocino. He was primarily a jazz musician and while proficient on many instruments had a special affection for his beloved vibes. His Uncle was Jazz great Jelly Role Morton and the love of art and music runs in his family. His love of art was a personal passion and he did not show or sell his art.
