Abstract Painting by Perli Pelzig
This great period piece is dated '58 and was done by listed Israeli artist Perli Pelzig. It is titled "Ecology (Switchboard Calander)" and measures 21 3/4" X 29 1/2" in its original frame. The oil painting is done on canvas mounted on board. The original matting and board have been replaced with acid free archival materials. The original label has been replaced on the back of the frame. I did notice that my framer made the new matting slightly larger which exposes some areas which were originally covered. Pelig is a painter/sculptor/muralist/mosaics/architect/archeologist who was born in Poland in 1917 and educated in Germany. He is considered one of Israels' leading artists. He is the founder of Art Teachers college, Oranim (1955) and won the Jerusalem Prize for Sculpture in 1971 and prizes from the American Association of Architects twice. He came to the US in 1956 where his works include stained glass, mosaics, sgraffito, tapestries, enamels and sculpture.
